The MILS Mission
The mission of the Mindfulness in Law Society (MILS) is to enhance well-being in the legal profession by educating it about the benefits of mindfulness meditation, yoga, and other contemplative practices.
Our Mission Statement
The mission of the Mindfulness in Law Society is to help promote well-being and alleviate suffering in the legal profession, nationally and internationally, by educating it about the benefits of mindfulness, yoga, and other contemplative practices for legal and related professionals, and to develop, promote, coordinate, and assess activities to support the continued learning and growth of its members in this regard. This includes but is not limited to:
Establishing and supporting divisions and chapters that allow lawyers, law students and others involved in the legal profession interested in mindfulness, yoga, and other contemplative practices to organize by professional interest, geographic location, or other means;
Providing opportunities for other mindfulness organizations to affiliate with the Corporation to take advantage of its networking, coordination, and other capacities;
Organizing conferences, meetings, and other gatherings for its members, chapters, and affiliates;
Creating internet and social media support for legal and related professionals interested in mindfulness meditation;
Fostering collaboration, continuing education, and quality among those who teach mindfulness to law students and in the legal profession;
Distributing grants to individuals and groups to promote growth and innovation in areas consistent with the MILS mission;
Supporting research about the relationship between mindfulness and law; and
Other activities consistent and supportive of the MILS mission.
“ Mindfulness is not hard work. It’s very pleasant and relaxing, and we don’t need extra time to do it. There’s an art to finding creative ways to generate the energy of mindfulness, peace, and happiness in everyday life.”
